Trusting Yourself

Trusting yourself and your choices is the key to emotional well being. We enter psychotherapy for all different reasons: grief, personal crisis, anxiety, sadness, phases of life issues, unmanageable anger, relationship troubles, career issues, etc. Sometimes we don’t even know what’s bothering us – we just know we don’t feel right.

To my mind, the ability to recognize that you have a need for change and accept that you need help to move towards a solution, is an inner strength.

As a client-centered and solution focused therapist, my goal is help you work towards future decision making and learn to live on life’s terms. While we can’t change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges that are causing you pain and impeding upon your life today. By applying integrative therapy approaches and techniques, together we will unearth long-standing behavioral patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling life.

At present, she is attaining her Doctorate of Psychology. Tracy also is contracted with Orange County Behavioral Health Rehabilitation facilities as well as an employed psychotherapist at St. Joseph’s Health, Mission Hospital, Kaiser Permanente of California. Specialties inculde clinical psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families dealing with Compulsive Disorders (OCD), Anxiety Disorders, PTSD -Traumatic Recall, as well as Addiction related disorders. Ms. Kuhar is also trained by the EMDR Institute for the practice of EMDR, which is a powerful psychotherapy technique which has been very successful in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, post traumatic stress and many other emotional problems.

In working with clients in psychotherapy, I find it useful to begin by identifying what is working right in their lives as well as areas of life that have been particularly challenging. We might examine patterns of concern. We also look at what’s not working; relationships, symptoms of depression, anxiety, obsessive thinking, compulsive – addictive behavior, and emotional regulation. All of these feelings and concerns serve as clues to help us identify and address hidden and unexpressed emotions and experiences that may be getting in the way.  From there, together we may develop strategies to do more of what’s working and less of what’s not. It has been my experience that clients typically know how to solve their own problems once they’ve been able to remove their emotional defenses and barriers.

It’s a “master remind” in some cases. For others, therapy is to assist in further developing insight into making healthy choices and healthy relationships with self and others.

I look forward to our work together” – Tracy.

Tracy is attentive and thorough while also making the time to spend one on one with you. Her relaxed style makes it easy to make good progress with her and feel good by the end of a session. Much more work for me to do!!

Tracy is amazing. She doesn’t make you feel like a test tube, she makes you feel like a person. Couldn’t be more grateful.“
