“In working with clients in psychotherapy, I find it useful to begin by identifying what is working right in their lives as well as areas of life that have been particularly challenging. We might examine patterns of concern. We also look at what’s not working; relationships, symptoms of depression, anxiety, obsessive thinking, compulsive – addictive behavior, and emotional regulation. All of these feelings and concerns serve as clues to help us identify and address hidden and unexpressed emotions and experiences that may be getting in the way. From there, together we may develop strategies to do more of what’s working and less of what’s not. It has been my experience that clients typically know how to solve their own problems once they’ve been able to remove their emotional defenses and barriers.
It’s a “master remind” in some cases. For others, therapy is to assist in further developing insight into making healthy choices and healthy relationships with self and others.
I look forward to our work together” – Tracy.
